Connectivity & Integration
Can I connect my PanelPilot display to a PLC or external controller?
Yes, PanelPilot devices can interface with external controllers via supported communication methods, such as RS485, Modbus, or CAN bus, depending on the model and available add-ons.
Is PanelPilot compatible with Ethernet or Wi-Fi networks?
Ethernet is supported on select models (e.g. SGD 70-A with integrated Ethernet); Wi-Fi requires a third-party solution and is not natively supported.
Software & Configuration
Where do I find or update PanelPilot software?
Software downloads and updates are available on the dedicated product pages for ACE, B, and M. Each offers a “Check for updates” option within the software (Design Studio or configuration tool) to fetch the latest configurations.
How many times can I install PanelPilot software?
The software is free and may be installed on multiple PCs. The only restriction is not to sell or reverse-engineer it.
Customisation & UI
Can I add my company logo or branding to the display?
Yes, most PanelPilot tools allow you to add a custom splash screen or logo during configuration, which will display briefly at device startup.
I need a configuration not currently available in PanelPilot software. Can I request one?

Output & Data Handling
Can I export or log data from my PanelPilot display across models?
Data logging is natively supported on ACE Series using the Design Studio’s graphing and logging features; B and M with temperature or I/O capabilities may require additional hardware for data export.
Portability
Can I back up or transfer my interface design between devices?
Yes, all configurations and project files can be backed up and reused across different PanelPilot devices that are compatible (e.g., ACE to ACE, B to B), via the configuration software or project file sharing.
Interface Design & Custom Elements
How can I implement a spinner to control a variable?
The Design Studio software (from version 2 onward) includes a maths builder feature that allows you to create spinner controls to adjust variables. You can set this up within your project by using the maths builder to increment or decrement values as needed.
Can I request a configuration that’s not available in the PanelPilot software?

Settings
How do I change my device clock time?
Connect your device to the PanelPilotACE Design Studio and select it from the device dropdown in the top right. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) next to the device selector and choose “Device Configuration.” Check the “Set Real Time Clock” box, adjust the time zone if needed (e.g., +1 for GMT+1), then click “Configure” to update your device.
